The Breakfast Program

The Breakfast Program is co-sponsored by Families First and the Windsor Good fellows. On average, the Breakfast Program volunteers serve 1100 students each school day. There are nine area schools that participate in the program which is facilitated by volunteers and parents in the school community. We are proud to be affiliated with a program that allows children to have a good start to their day, every day.

Students often have choices such as:

                                                •           A variety of cold cereals
                                                •           Pancakes
                                                •           Toast with peanut butter & jam
                                                •           Bagels with cream cheese
                                                •           And a choice of juice and milk
                                                •           Snacks at recess and lunch

We would like to thank the Windsor Good fellows as well as the volunteers from the school communities for helping execute this program so successfully.

“Why Families Matter” Graduating Student Writing Contest

We have been sponsoring this writing contest in Windsor and Essex County for the last four years. Students are required to write an essay on “Why Families Matter” in 500 to 1000 words.  It has been our hope that throughout the last four years the students have taken this topic into their homes and those parents, grandparents and relatives have had an opportunity to have some conversations on the importance of family. We are offering 4 bursaries this year $1500.00 for first place, $500.00 for second place, $500 for third place and $500.00 for fourth place. Only grade 12 graduating students are eligible to apply. Please email jen@familiesfirst.ca or call 519-969-5841 for more information.

The mission of Canada South Science City is to advance the understanding and appreciation of science, its principles, and applications, for residents and visitors of Southwestern Ontario, through the operation of a hands-on science centre incorporating

· Creative displays and interactive exhibits

· Programming to enhance the delivery of school-based science curriculum

Mark you calendars this year for Families First Weekend 2010 (Feb 13, 14, 15) For more information on any of the above programs that we are currently involved with please contact Jen at 519-969-5841 or by email jen@familiesfirst.ca
