Obituary for John "Jack" Hannan

Jack Hannan passed away peacefully, at home, on September 26, 2020 at the age of 96. He is survived by his loving son Tom and his sister-in-law Judy. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Anna Mae “Mike” (1990), son Terry (2014) and son Tim (2020). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. Jack was a devoted and caring husband and father. He absolutely adored his wife and loved being with his three boys.

Jack was an avid golfer, and he just loved the game. He played for years with his buddies Al Taylor, Ron Meloche and Brian Bechand. Once a year, the gang would travel to Myrtle Beach for a couple of weeks and have a great time. The golf was outstanding, but the “cigars and cold ones” after golf, were even better. Jack spent many summers coaching baseball in South Windsor with his pals Dick Williams and Al Taylor. He loved it, and the kids loved him. The guys would once a year take in a Detroit Tiger’s game. The highlight of the trip was a “mandatory stop” at Nemo’s for a burger and a beer. Jack was loved, appreciated and respected by everyone who knew him or met him.

A special thank you on behalf of Jack and the family to the EMS and ambulance personnel, the Fire Department and Windsor Police. All class, caring and very supportive. Thank you all at Families First, Bill R and John V and especially the “Transfer team” Marc and Todd for your outstanding professionalism and support. Thank you to Rena Ciarrocchi, Nancy and Mike for being great neighbours and a good friend to Jack. Thank you Harry “The Deacon” Crawford for spending time with Jack for many years.

Special thanks to Bobby at Arcata, who loved “Mr. Hannan”, Shayna and the gang at Cramdon’s, the ladies at the Esso Station, Fr. Roche and limo Jack Jobin for “always being there”. Your caring and friendship meant a lot to Jack. Thank you Dr. Legion Moon for your support and love of “The Inspector”. Jack was also known to occasionally make the odd trip to Grand Bend.

Jack was a devout Catholic, and would appreciate donations to the Corpus Christi Church Fund. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at a later date. At Jack’s request, a private family service has taken place.
