Obituary for Domenico "Domenic" Magri

May 17, 1932--April 14, 2023.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our family’s Patriarch, Domenico (Domenic) Pasquale Magri on April 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at 90 years young. Domenic is survived by the love of his life, his wife Amalia Maria (née Sbrocca) celebrating over 66 years of marriage. He was immensely proud of his three children, Arthur (Jo-Anne), Susan Bertoia (Louis 2021), and Angelo (Diane). His grandchildren will always remember their fun-loving, humble, selfless grandfather: Louis (Laura) Bertoia, Beatrice (David) Costante, Domenic (Leesa) Bertoia, Stephanie (Liem Pham), Erica (Brandon Caruana), Andrew, Christopher, Christina, and Robert (Kirsti Willson). Nonno’s beloved great-grandchildren include Louis, Analisa, Giuliana, Francesco, Claudia, Adriana, Isabella, Sophia, Amalia, Domenic, Gioia, and Leah. Even at the end, he knew their names and interacted with all of them. Domenic is reunited with his parents Arturo (1983) and Assunta (2002), his son Louis Bertoia and his eldest brother Luigi (2018 surviving wife Assunta), his parents-in-law Carmela (2002) and Sabatino (1969) Sbrocca. He leaves behind his brother Tony, and sister Joanne (Ron) Lucas as well as his Sbrocca in-laws, Michelino (1927), Nick (1992) (Giovanna 2017), Lino (2007) (Rosaria), Angelina (1961), Marina (Joe 1983) Camino, Pat (2012), Mike (2019) (Cheryl). Fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and people he touched with his warm heart and smile. Domenic was born in San Giovanni in Galdo, Italy and arrived in Leamington, with his father and brother Luigi in 1948. After moving to Windsor, he worked for Inter-City Truck Lines, retiring in 1993. To provide for his family, he proudly built his own home. He always kept busy tending to his garden and his magnificent fig trees, making wine and sausage, and canning tomato sauce. He lived for endless vacations, golfing over 100 rounds a year, and welcoming his growing family for Sunday afternoon luncheons. Domenic was very committed to his faith and served his parishes as a Eucharistic minister, usher, and an all-around handyman. No day was complete without his favourite--ice cream! You could always count on a scoop whenever you came over! He was his family’s number one cheerleader--never missing any of the kids’ soccer, hockey, and baseball games; skating and dance recitals; and all their special events! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Transition to Betterness or the Autism Ontario West Region-Essex would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Thursday 3-5, 7-9pm. Parish prayers Thursday 4:30pm at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Friday, family and friends are invited to meet at Corpus Christi Church (1400 Cabana Rd. W.) from 10:00am, until time of Mass at 11:00am. Entombment Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Share memories, photos, or make a donation online at www.FamiliesFirst.ca
