Obituary for Alfredo "Alfy" Santarossa

Aug. 28, 1931-Feb. 9, 2024

Alfredo quietly, at home accepted his new life after 92 years. He was the son of the late Pietro Santarossa (1942) and Pierrina Minotti (1938). Beloved husband for 69 plus years to Mary Louise (Preney) and very much a part of the Preney clan of Wilfred and Louise Preney. Cherished father of Guy (Angela), late Chris (1974), David (Sandy), and Tracy Lynn of B.C. Proud Grampa of 8 – Jason (Julie), Alicia, Nicole (Jamie), Christina (Will), Anthony, Casara (Brandon), Nadia (Brandon), Sophia (Terry), and Great Grampa of 5- Winston, Teegan, Eva, Storey Joy & Seger. Youngest sibling of 4 late Santarossa brothers, Adriano (2002) Shirley (2022), Cheese (1989), Madeline (2007), Sam (1992), Ida (1989), Antonio (2007) and survived by sister in law Mary. Much loved brother in law to late Beatrice (1995), Murray (1976) Shepley, Ray Preney late Dorina(2014), Mickey (1970), Dick (Barb), John (Susanne), David (Katherine), and Kim (Lydia). Alfy retired in 1980 from Chryslers after 30 years of dedicated service and then tackled new career in construction and finally retired after 10 years. He built a home on a canal in LaSalle, an addition for his mother-in-law, enjoyed boating and fishing. In 2009, Al and Mary moved to Solidarity Tower, more changes. As his partner in all of this, I must acknowledge the kind help that has been extended to me to make it possible to care for Al at home the last few years, and keep him happy and comfortable. Special care from down the hall, PSW’s, nurses and nurse practitioner is something we were blessed to have had access to, with such loving attention given. We do have angels right here on earth. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. John Vianney Church would be appreciated by the family. Memorial visiting Wednesday February 14, 2024 from 5 -8 p.m. at Families First 1065 Lauzon Rd. 519-969-5841. On Thursday February 15, 2024 relatives and friends are invited to join the family at 10:30 am at St. John Vianney Church for Mass of Christian Burial.
