Obituary for Amrit Chopra

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amrit Chopra on March 15, 2023 at the age of 79. Amrit passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

Amrit, lovingly known as Guddi, leaves behind her beloved husband of 53 years Dr. Raj Chopra. Her loving daughter Anu Locricchio, her husband Matthew, and their cherished children Rohan, Serena, Selena and Logan. Her devoted son Rajeev, his wife Monica, and their precious sons Nikhil, Joshan and Jayen.

Amrit was a caring sister to Savinder (Rani) Kaur, Amar Singh, Mehtab Kaur, and Raghbir Singh. She will also be dearly missed by extended family and friends.

Amrit was an academic and a humanitarian. She was a gold medal scholar and a dedicated educator. She had a great love of teaching her students, her kids, and her grandkids. Amrit had the biggest heart and an endless desire to help those who were less fortunate. She focused her life on service for many years. She loved to provide and serve food to those in need at the Downtown Mission of Windsor. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. We will all miss her caring and sharing ways.

For those who wish to make a donation in Amrit’s memory, they can donate to the Downtown Mission of Windsor.

Family and friends are welcome to visit anytime between 9 - 11 am on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Families First in South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave. 519-969-5841). No traditional service. Private cremation to follow. A prayer service will be held at Gurdwara Khalsa Prakash afterwards (7955 County Road #42 519-735-6938).
