Obituary for Anne Bernice Hobbs (nee Brown)

It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Anne Bernice Hobbs on November 8, 2022 at the age of 93; reunited with the love of her life Michael Bashura (1990). She passed away with her loved ones by her side, in the comfort of her own home where she had resided for over 60 years. Born on Marticot Island, Newfoundland on October 14, 1929.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Sandra Stevens, Charles Hobbs, Jacob Richard Hobbs (Linda), Sylvia Pearson (Cletus), Cynthia Wiebe and Steve Hobbs (Janis). She was a loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her much loved sisters Imelda “Seppie” Manning and Dolores Brown and many nieces, nephews and friends both here and in Newfoundland.

She is predeceased by her loving parents Frederick and Irene (nee Flynn) Brown, her former spouse Jacob Hobbs, her sisters Kathleen Brown, Philomenia McCormack (Jack), Margaret Dahle (Orrin), her brothers Wallace Brown, baby Frederick Brown, Frederick Brown (Shirley), brothers-in-law James Manning, Raymond White, George Hobbs (Elizabeth), Roland Hobbs (Grace), sister-in-law Beatrice Chesterton (William) and many special nieces and nephews.

Anne will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her big heart, strong will and fierce loyalty. She always extended a helping hand to anyone in need.

A special thank you to our angel of mercy mom’s nurse Maria Bartolomew. We are forever grateful to her for her gentle care, compassion, kindness and sharing of her knowledge in her care for our mother. We also thank everyone who visited mom during her illness.
