Anya Laurence-Thiel

Beloved and cherished life partner and wife of Andreas. Died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 following a valiant struggle with a recent illness. Anya leaves a legacy of many achievements, both musical and literary but above all, in her great capacity to give and receive love. Quick to praise and encourage and eager to look for the amusing aspects of life she leaves this world wonderfully enriched. If you so desire, donations to St. Matthew's Anglican Church or to The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) would be appreciated. On Sunday, November 22, 2020 reservations and personal face coverings are required to attend visitation from 3:00pm-5:00pm and for the funeral Monday, November 23, 2020 at 10:00am at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.

Anya was one of a kind. She was my piano teacher for nearly 10 years, but she was so much more than that. She was my mentor, my confidant, and my friend. She was always there to lend an ear or give advice when it came to anxiety, relationships, and really just anything. She was such a big part of my life for so long, and although we haven't spoken much in the last few years, she has always been with me when I'm at my piano, and she will always be dear to me.

Andreas, I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you love and strength

Dear Andreas,
I am so sorry to learn of Anya's passing. She was so talented, energetic, compassionate and a joy to know. This year has been dreadful, with the loss of loved ones (Richard died of cancer in January) and the cruelty of Covid. There will be many dark hours and days ahead but there are also wonderful memories to savour and we have faith that one day we will be reunited in a better place. May God watch over you and may light perpetual shine upon Anya.
