Obituary for Barrie E. Hoare

Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 13, 2023 with family by his side at the age of 77. Loving and devoted husband of Patricia (nee MacNeil) with whom “he found his joy” and “was joined at the hip” for 54 years and 6 months. Cherished father of Barrie (Michelle), Tracey (Ken) Garza, and Cindy (Lloyd) McKee. Proud Grandpa and Papa of Laurel, Brayden, Emily, Elise, Ryan, Kaylee, and Kiera. Survived by his twin brother Bruce (Patty Lynn) and sister-in-law Mary. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Verla and Charles, brother, Charlie, and sister, Shirley. He is also survived by cousins, Karen and Allister Bertram and family (Heather, Dinushan, Sean and Emily). He will also be dearly missed by lifelong friends Mary and Willi Muzzin and Shirley and Bill Reid.

Barrie retired after over 40 years in the tool and die trade with most of his years spent at Windsor Tool & Die. He was an avid volunteer for many groups including LaSalle Ambassador Horticultural Society, Cancer Society, St. Vincent de Paul, and 15 years with Meals on Wheels. He also enjoyed giving his time at Sacred Heart Church where he was involved in many different functions, including giving communion at mass. But his favourite way to spend his time was supporting his grandchildren. No matter the location or function; from J.K. presentations to College Graduations, he was there cheering them on. There were countless Soccer and Baseball games, fishing stories and trips to the zoo where unforgettable memories and bonds were formed.

CANCER SUCKS!

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the medical staff who cared for Barrie over the last 14 years.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Hospice of Windsor.

As per Barrie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at Families First Funeral Home in LaSalle on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm with parish prayers at 7 pm. Visiting will continue on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church in LaSalle until the time of mass at 11:00 am.
