Obituary for Betty Jean Baxter (née Yocom)

Beloved wife of the late Russell. Cherished mother of Judith and the late David St. Louis, Wendy and the late Charles Matte, the late Cheryl and Phil Renaud and the late John Russell Baxter. Loving Grandma of Christine Kilpatrick (David), Scott St. Louis, Dale St. Louis, Neil Matte (Stephanie), Crystal Matte, Stacey Ukrainec (Chris) and Holly Gaothusi (Wabuya). Great grandmother to Daniel, Andrew, William, Audrey, Nicholas, the late Kennith, Amber, Megan, Raelynn, Baby M, Casey, Blake and Baby G. Predeceased by her siblings Margorie Baxter, Thomas, Kenneth, John and Billy.

Betty was a dedicated wife and mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. A talented seamstress, she handmade most of her children’s clothing. She especially loved her role as grandma. We will always hold close memories of her delicious baked goods, candy in the candy dish, postcards from Florida, family dinners, as well as cherries hiding in the applesauce for dessert. Betty treasured quiet evenings with Russ at home, a romance novel in her hand while helping him solve the daily crypto quote, perhaps from her vast knowledge of words with her love of crosswords. Knowing how much her family meant to her and how much she meant to us will be forever held in our hearts.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Extendicare Southwood Lakes who provided invaluable care to Betty for seven years.

If you so desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

A private family service was held. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Families First, 3260 Doguall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841.

Interment Victoria Memorial Gardens.
