Obituary for Beverly Rose Merryfield (Beneteau)

Returned home to Jesus at the age of 88 on May 13, 2022. Wife of Robert (2015). Loving mother of Scott (Ruth) and Lisa (Kevin). Devoted grandmother of Adam (Lynn), Katelyn (1993), Curtis and Kyle, Bradley, Gregory (Holly), Alexander and Nicole (Jonathon). Joyful great-grandmother to Charlotte and Lily. Sister of Wayne (Catherine). Predeceased by parents Lucien (1982) & Kathleen (Kitty Dafoe 1994).

As a child, Beverly was an exemplary student, winning several awards and pins for her accomplishments and even skipping 3 grades graduating from W. D. Lowe at age 16. She worked in a clerical pool at Hiram Walkers until 1952 when she married Bob and was forced to quit as they didn’t allow married women on staff at the time. For the next seven years, she worked in the office at the General Motors Engine Plant until the birth of her son Scott and later Lisa, while assuming multiple jobs, working out of her home until she eventually went to work at Metropolitan Hospital as an EEG clerk. This role evolved to include ECG and Respiratory Therapy until she retired at age 62 to stay with Lisa’s children. Beverly’s Aunt Edie (2007) was a lifelong friend and they enjoyed many vacations together in Maui which became their “favourite place”. In recent years, Beverly was limited by health restrictions but was always happiest when visiting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone at Malden Park for the exemplary care Beverly received during her final days. They were angels that lifted her spirits and provided her compassionate comfort; may they each be rewarded in Heaven. As well a sincere appreciation to Transition 2 Betterness for their support to the entire family.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial tributes may be made to a children’s charity of your choice.

A memorial Mass celebrating Beverly’s life will take place at Sacred Heart Church, 1425 Divine St., LaSalle on Thursday May 19, 2022 at 10:30 am. All are invited to arrive in time for mass.
