Obituary for Biagio Fontana

Passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on January 16, 2021 at 79 years of age. Loving and devoted husband of Antonia (nee Bonanno) for 49 years. Loving father of Lina and Francis Rivard, Lorenzo and Judy Fontana, and Enza and Chad DeBlois. Treasured Nonno of Celeste, Sofia, Ryan, Gavin, Matteo and Emma. Predeceased by his parents Lorenzo Fontana, Nicolina Stassi and by his brother Simone Fontana. Cherished brother of Giovanna and Rosario Ferro, Maria and Calogero Bonanno, Fina Manfre (late Giachino), Stefano and Franca Fontana and Matteo and Maria Fontana. Son-in-law to late Filippo and Vincenza Bonanno. Brother-in-law to Maria Palermo (late Giuseppe), Antonino and Giusepina Bonanno, Salvatore and Franca Bonanno and Calogera and Rosario Ienna. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends from Canada, Italy, Belgium, United States and Australia.

Biagio had a passion for gardening, and was known for sharing the abundance of fruit and vegetables his garden produced with his friends and family. He got his greatest enjoyment spending time with his grandchildren and family.

If you so desire, donations to the Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family. On Tuesday January 19, 2021 reservations and personal face coverings are required to attend visitation from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841.
