It is with sadness but gratitude that the family of Charles Michael Bakos announce that Charles went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 5th, 2022 at the age of 99. Charles is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Jamila, his brother Yousif, his beloved wife Jestine, of 62 years, and cherished daughter in-law Lamees Bakos. He will be greatly missed by his children Balsam (Mokbel/Mark) Hanna, and Louie (Lamees 2022), special Giddo (grandfather) to Christine (Matthew) Curtis, Miranda, Sharon (Dr. Matthew) Pfaff, Philip, Paul and Adam Bakos, and Great Giddo to Caleb Curtis. Survived also by sister in–law Dorees Bakos, niece and nephews, Yusra (Natek) Daheen, Basem (Joyce), Khalid (Yazan) Bakos. Fondly remembered by many other family members of the Rahim, Bashoo, Kheder and Bahoshy families.
Charles was born in Baghdad, Iraq, the younger of two sons trained as a Telecommunication Technician, and worked for The British Petroleum Company, at sea and on land in Iraq. Married Jestine, the love of his life and together they raised their children in Busra. In 1969, he immigrated with his family to England, and worked for Plessey Communications untill immigrating again to Canada in 1975. Charles worked, for the city of Windsor, and Multi-Elmac, but made a significant career change by getting into the bakery business and operated the Natural Bakeshop till he retired. Charles was devoted to his family and an avid Backgammon player on his computer, even in the weeks before his passing.
Many thanks and appreciation to Dr. Bacon, NPs, RNs and all the supporting staff at Heron Terrace. A special thank you to the PSWs in Meadows Unit, for their unmatched love, respect and encouragement to our dad in his stay with them, particularly Rose, who made it so extra special for him, “a great lady” indeed.
