The Gillis family sadly announces the peaceful passing of our beloved brother, Daniel, surrounded by his loving family at Aspen Lake Nursing home at the age 70. Son of the late Cecelia Agnes LeBlanc and Donald Joseph Gillis of New Victoria, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Left to mourn are his sisters Mary Sauve (late Eddie, late Wayne LaRose), Jane Gaudet (Peter), Theresa Gillard (Bram), Dolena Casssidy (John), Josie Delaney, Carmella Drouillard (late Romeo), Claudia Reed (late Chris). Brothers Leo (Ann), Russell (late Bonnie), Martin (Marguerite), Wally (Cheryl), Alex (Debbie), Jerome (Lisa). Predeceased by brother Joe Gillis and late wife Sherry, John Gillis and survived by wife Rose, and infant brother James. Uncle Buzz was a proud uncle to 43 nieces and nephews. He was gentle and loving man and is now at peace. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff at Aspen Lake nursing home (Belle River Wing) for the loving, compassionate care our brother received during his 12 year residency; Buzz loved you all and we will be forever grateful. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.
