Obituary for David Dunwoody

It is with sadness that on January 16, 2024, we announce the passing of loving husband, father, Granda and brother, David Allen Dunwoody, at the age of 83.

Husband of 37 years to Sharon Dunwoody (Nee Brant) and father of their five children, Kelly Dunwoody (Todd Gee), Katelynn Thibert (Jeff), Kerri Dunwoody, Kim Crevatin (Trevor), Allen Dunwoody (Kelly). Father and grandfather to Lisa Dunwoody and Jason Dunwoody (Carrie) and children. Greatest Granda to Dekson, Duke, Robbie, Lincoln, Haisley, Olive and expectant twins. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Allen (1983) and Alvina (1996) Dunwoody, brothers Jim Dunwoody (2006) and Michael Dunwoody (2021, survived by Francis Bolis). Survived by sister Audrey Byrne (Joe 2008). Dave will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and the Brant family.

Dave served in the Air Force, and later retired from Air Canada (1997). Alumni of Brentwood Recovery Home (1980); 43 years proudly sober. Dave spent his summers passionately walking 27 holes an outing, finding peace on the golf course, only to return home to mow his lawn; his second passion. The Boston Bruins will miss their biggest fan in Dave. But neither passion could eclipse his family who was the pinnacle of his life. Dave was a steadfast father who raised his children using a strong moral compass, expert advice and a wit that never left. Enemy of squirrels, conqueror of crosswords, devourer of ice cream and quick spender of all ten pennies in the family game.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to The Village of Aspen Lake staff for the kindness and care given to Dave over the last year and a half.

If you so desire, donations to Brentwood Recovery Home are appreciated.
