Obituary for Degolacion "Cionie" Sibuma
86 years, passed away on July 12, 2023 after a courageous battle.
Beloved wife for almost 40 years of Oscar.
Much loved mother of Tess Sibuma (Rodney Kennedy). Dear Lola of Sydney and Jacob (of the Philippines). Loved sister of Reynalda Puzon, Victoriano Balino (Lolita Ferrer), Faustino Balino (Carmelita Javier), Ambrosio Balino (Aurora Navarro), Gerarda Piedad (Percival), and Divina Montero (the late Aurelio) and the late Tomasa Balino. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews especially her niece and caregiver Jackie, all from Canada, USA and the Philippines.
She started her nursing career in the USA and emigrated to Canada bringing with her, her mother and siblings, nieces and nephews. She continued her nursing career with Paediatrics at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital, Windsor then moved to Detroit Hospital where she cared for patients in the OR until retirement. She was Miss Philippines (Windsor) in the 1970s, loved watching sports of all kinds, loved to play cards, dance and was always walking.
She was a caring and loving person to everyone. Cionie had a true heart of gold who supported her family in any and all ways that she could.
Donations may be made to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation.
Visiting will be Sunday 3-5 & 7-9 pm with parish prayers at 4:30 pm at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Monday July 17, 2023, family and friends are invited to meet at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church for visiting after 9:30 am until time of funeral mass at 10:30 am. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
