Dennis "Big Dawg" Fairall

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share in the passing of Dennis Fairall on November 6, 2020. In his 67 years he has been blessed with his immediate family and an extensive extended family of athletes, coaches and friends. Dennis was a devoted husband to his wife Janet (nee Sivyer), and a loving father to Jeremy (Michael) and Erin (Chad Thibert). He was blessed with two granddaughters, Sophie and Evie, who brought laughter and joy to his heart. Loving brother of Lynne Robertson, the late Robert, and their families.

A dear friend said, ‘Dennis’ life will not only be measured by the accolades and titles he won, but in the number of lives he influenced over the years. Dennis has been my coach, mentor, father figure and dear friend for as long as I can remember. So much of what I have in my life, both personally and professionally, I owe to Dennis.’

To honour Dennis, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Dennis Fairall Track and Field Scholarship at the University of Windsor would be appreciated by the family. Donate directly online or by cheque. Cheques can be made payable to: University of Windsor – Fairall Scholarship

I have some really good memories of sitting in a speeding golf cart, white knucled, as we zipped around a course to cheer on Lancer cross-country. I also remember helping the Track and Field team source a bucket of ice-water to dump on him when we won Nationals. It was an honour to work for him in the small capacity I did.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Janet and family. Thoughts and memories are also flooding my head....so many many to recount....from my earliest memory of meeting Dennis when I was just fourteen years old...joining the Tillsonburg Track And Field Team....I will continue to cherish and share with friends and family how Dennis impacted my life not only as an athlete but as a friend! Sending virtual hugs to Janet and family.

Where to begin. Janet and family, my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dennis. Thoughts and memories are flooding my head too fast to recount here. As many have said Dennis always had a big heart and a big smile. Now he leaves behind some "BIG" shoes to fill. To a teammate and friend, you have made the world a better place.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet, Erin, Jeremy, and the rest of Dennis’ family at this time of great loss. Dennis is a legendary individual whose life was far too short. His legacy, though, will live on for many generations. All of us who were fortunate to know him are richer, and grateful for the life he lived.
