Obituary for Domenico "Mimi" Iannetta

A strong and generous heart stopped beating…Domenico passed away peacefully and quietly surrounded by his family on May 10, 2022 at the age of 91 years young.

Loving husband of the late Rosina (nee Teti, 1995). Devoted father of Giovanna D’Agnolo (Eddy), and Pasquale Iannetta (Anna). Proud Nonno “Mimi” of Sarah and Marco Villella, Laura D’Agnolo, Benjamin Iannetta (Tyler Rawlings), Adam and Nicole Iannetta, and Daniel Iannetta (Jocelyn Baker). Adored bisnonno of Emilia and Sophie Villella, and “Baby” Iannetta on the way. Domenico's greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he took a very active part in their lives.

Domenico was predeceased by his parents Pasquale and Antonia Iannetta and his siblings Giovanni, Domenico, Teresa, Vittorio, his brother-in-law Enrico Saroli, and all of his Teti family members. He will be sadly missed by his sister Maria Saroli, brother-in-law Alberto Iannetta, sister-in-law Rosa Teti and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, United States and Italy.

Domenico was born in Mignano Montelungo, Caserta, Italy to parents Pasquale Iannetta and Antonia Calzetta. He grew up during difficult times enduring many years of hardship both during and following WWII. He always wanted a better life. After marrying the love of his life, Rosina Teti, in 1953, work was scarce, so, in Sept. of 1955 Domenico, Rosina and their infant daughter Giovanna embarked on their journey to Canada in search of a better life. The early years were difficult but they persevered and created a loving and comfortable life for their family.

Domenico was an active member of St. Angela Merici parish where he served as an Usher and a long standing member of the Holy Names Society. He was a proud employee of the City of Windsor and member of CUPE Local 82. After retirement, Domenico enjoyed many years of travelling, gardening, especially his amazing lemon trees, making sausages, prosciutto, capocolli and his special winemaking.

To all who knew and loved Mimi, he was a man who lived his life for others and we are all better for having known and been loved by him.

Domenico’s family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of the Hospice Home Care Team, the Bayshore Home Health Team, and the doctors and nurses on the 5th floor WRH Metropolitan Campus for their excellent, and compassionate care of our father and Nonno.
