Donald Alexander Hearn

Peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 18, 2020, at the age of 92. Predeceased by his beloved wife Doreen (2016). Dear father of Donald G. and wife Susan, Jan and Jim Lapain. Much loved and proud grandfather of Donald Matthew and Lisa, Bradley and Patricia, Steven and Mary, Colleen and Steve Barei. Cherished “Picky Papa” of Sarah, Donald H., Lily, Molly, Savannah, Conner, Jenna, Luke, Vanessa and Charlie. Forever remembered by his nieces and nephews; Pamela, Colin, Marc, Cheryl, and predeceased by Nancy. Also predeceased by his siblings; Jack Hearn and wife Betty, Zada Scherping and husband Ray, and his mother and father, Garfield Glover and Mary Hearn.

Donald was a Trooper in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving in WWII when he was 15 years old. As a young man in the army, Donald won many boxing matches and marathon events. After serving his country, he became a gifted innovator, artistic master craftsman and woodworker, who took great pride in each of his creations; whether it be roughing in a home or the fine finishing of detailed wood interiors. Donald was credited for the building of numerous subdivisions and private homes in the Essex County area.

Special thanks to Jim Hotson, whose frequent family visits and supplies of Bud’s tobacco pouches were appreciated. Thanks also to Devonshire Retirement Home, Chartwell Kingsville Retirement Residence and Hospice Residential-Windsor for their loving care and compassion.

If you so desire, donations to Hospice Residential Homes-Windsor would be appreciated by the family.

A private family service was held and cremation has taken place.
