Obituary for Doreen Blanche Asciak (née Drouillard)

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, surrounded by family, on August 16, 2019 at the age of 86. Darling wife of Emanuel “Lee” Asciak for 66 years. Beloved mother of Michael Asciak (Laura Spinazze), Jennifer Houle (Kevin), Stephanie Asciak, Dana Puhl (Peter), and Dona Asciak (Larry Fletcher). Proud Nanna of Michael, Matthew (Lisa), Danielle (Wally), Steven, and Christopher; Brandon (Kelli) and Nathan; Vanessa and Anthony. Bis-Nanna of 6 great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Rena and Lawrence Drouillard. Sister of the late Geraldine, Gord, Lawrence Jr., Mary Jane, Elaine, and Richard. Daughter-in-law of the late Michael and Spiridiona Asciak. Sister-in-law of the late Paul, the late Charles, and the late Maria. Doreen will be missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends in Canada, Malta and the UK.

She was an extraordinary wife, mother, and mother-figure to many. Doreen was an outstanding homemaker and tremendous cook who loved her family beyond measure. She was well known for her strength, determination, and brilliant sense of humour. Together with her husband Lee, they shared a deep love for their faith, evidenced in their daily life. This became the foundation of their family, and will be a part of her legacy. Doreen was a longtime member of the St. Anne’s Parish and CWL, and a vital part of the RCIA team for many years.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Cancer Centre and WRH Met Campus 4 West who provided outstanding care to our loving mom.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County or Transition to Betterness.
