Obituary for Ed Morin

1951-2023

Edmond Morin passed away suddenly on October 18th 2023 leaving behind his loving wife of 42 years, Olga (Matwijenko), sisters Claire, Marianne (Ron), many nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws. Predeceased by his sister Suzanne, brother Gilles, and parents, Yvonne and Ludger. He will be dearly missed by his hunting and fishing pals, and his neighbors on St Clair Avenue.

Born in Timmins, Ed was raised in small Northern Ontario towns and lumber camps. From a young age, his father Ludger taught Ed the ropes of the logging industry and the ethics of hard work. Out of necessity, he became a life-long expert at operating and repairing any piece of equipment. Ludger also instilled in him the love of the outdoors. Ed was an accomplished outdoorsman with many impressive trophies to his credit. His giving nature and big heart were gifts from his mother Yvonne. He had a broad career covering technical and supervisory positions in the mining and automotive industries. Ed had many secret passions, including his pilot wings, being a volunteer fire captain, painting landscapes, gardening, barbecuing wild game, and cooking a signature French Canadian pea soup. He was full of joie de vivre and loved to laugh. He will be dearly missed.

If you so desire, donations can be made to the charity of your choice or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A private celebration of Ed’s life is set to take place.
