Obituary for Edward Joseph "Ted" Young

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Ted, on March 7, 2023, with his family by his side, at the age of 95. Beloved husband and best friend of Donna for 72 years. The proud and loving father of his 5 children, Shelley (Raymond), Susan (2014) (Glenn), Robert, Jeff, Lisa (Eric). Loving Grandfather to his 10 grandchildren, Natalie (Ken), Gord (Magda), Samantha (Anthony), Leah (Michael), Robyn, Zachary, Nathan, Hannah, Clark and Jillian. Blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Amber, Ryan, Aiden and Anna. Survived by his sisters Dorothy (the late Don), Kathy (Tom), and very special sister-in-law Ruth Ann Walker and her family. Predeceased by his parents, Wally and Marie Young, as well as his siblings Jimmy, Barbara, Donald, and Ruth Ann.

Ted was a very devoted, hardworking, kind, gentle and generous man with a great wit and sense of humour. Ted lived a very beautiful and full life with Donna. Ted retired from Chrysler Canada as a proud and dedicated Executive. He loved and resided in the Riverside area for 70 years. Ted was very involved in the betterment of the community of Windsor with many years of volunteer work. He coached for Riverside Minor Hockey, having a positive impact on many young lives. He volunteered on the Windsor Public Library Board of Directors, Drouillard Place, Goodfellows, Red Cross, The Freedom Festival Committee and also at the Cancer Clinic. He was a strong believer in his Catholic faith. Ted was an avid reader and loved the music of Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Eddie Arnold and Leonard Cohen. Ted and Donna travelled the world together, as well as the back roads of Southern Ontario. They always found beautiful, interesting places and restaurants to enjoy together. Ted loved to garden and putz in his yard with the sound of a baseball game in the background. Family gatherings were most important to Ted, as he would sit back quietly and admire his beautiful family. Ted will be greatly missed as the wonderful patriarch he was to his loving family.

A sincere thank you to the staff at Sunrise Retirement Home. Ted truly loved it there. If you so desire, donations to Hospice of Windsor or MS Society Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Families First, East Windsor, 1065 Lauzon Road (519-969-5841).
