Obituary for Elmer Harold Birch

With sad, but loving hearts, the family of Elmer share his passing at 98 years, following a battle with complications of pneumonia. Cherished husband and best friend for 71 years of Theresa. Predeceased by parents Ray and Mable Birch (Blake) and step-parents Bill Blake and Kaye Birch. Survived by siblings Evelyn and Eileen, predeceased by Marie and Ernest. Elmer is lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

He was a Chrysler CAW retiree and had a lifelong passion for everything to do with farming; for several years Elmer enjoyed raising a variety of chickens including some very exotic species; and spent countless time in his cherished workshop repairing garage sale treasures for resale, many unique useful inventions were created on Elmer’s workbench. Elmer loved spending summers with Theresa in their beloved Owen Sound trailer resort with friends and family and they treasured memories of their trips to Hawaii. He served many years as an usher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Chartwell Oak Park LaSalle and Hotel Dieu Grace Palliative Care for their kindness and special care.

A private family service has been held.
