Obituary for Elsie Balint (née Boros)

The world has lost a loving, beautiful soul. Our mother Elsie was in her 87th year. Everyone who met her was struck by her kindness and dignity.

Elsie married her High School sweetheart Douglas (2017) in 1952. During their lives they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Together Elsie and Doug built a life of family and adventure, always willing to host huge parties for family and friends.

They travelled the world enjoying life while making numerous friendships that lasted decades.

Elsie is survived by her sister Goldene Cinat (the late Louis) and her children Cathi McWilliams, Dianne, the late David (2009), Greg (Noreen), and Rob (Marjie Gignac).

Elsie enjoyed spending time with her 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Elsie was active at St. Anthony Church in Harrow. She was a member of the CWL for over 30 years and an ardent volunteer at the Windsor Cancer Clinic and the Harrow St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Elsie loved to garden, sew, bowl, and play cards, and was a published writer. She was an inventive cook, and would bake masterpieces. Doug and Elsie were members of Beach Grove Golf & Country Club, the Windsor Club, and the Detroit Metropolitan Opera. They were passionate about exploring new cultures, and travelled to nearly every continent. In retirement they spent winters at their home in Marco Island, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Elsie’s memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements entrusted to Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, a private family interment service will take place at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
