Obituary for Erminia "Mema" Gabriele (Puzzuoli)

GABRIELE, Erminia (Mema)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Wife, Nonna and Bisnonna, Erminia (Mema) Gabriele. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on January 23, 2023 at 92 years of age. Beloved wife of ltalo Gabriele for 67 years. She will be forever missed by her three children: Dino Gabriele (Rosalba), Ida Kemp (David) and Silvana Swetech (James). She was a proud Nonna of her five grandchildren: Melissa (Michael Sooley), Sarah, Laura, Daniela and Adriana. In 2022, she was blessed to become a Bisnonna of her first great-grandchild: Maxwell. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and they brought her so much joy. She will also be sadly missed by many relatives and lifelong friends.

Erminia was born on July 21, 1930 in the town of Casalvieri located in the province of Frosinone in Italy. She came to Canada for a better life but her heart was always in Italy. She was full of life, love and had a quick wit that always kept everyone laughing. Her gardening skills were only outshone by her mastery of cooking. Throughout her life, she shared her love of cooking with her family which was her most valuable treasure. There was nothing more important to her than making sure her family was together and everyone was well fed!

Erminia lived her life full of love, Italian traditions and the true meaning of family. She was the most caring, selfless, hardworking and kind individual who welcomed others into her home with open arms. With the most beautiful heart, she passed all these pieces of her legacy on to her family. We love you Mema and know you will be watching over us!

Sei sempre nei nostri cuore

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses and PSWs who cared for Erminia in the last few years of her life as she courageously battled Dementia.
