Obituary for Estanislao Gutang "Tani" Tomarong

November 13, 1947 - September 18, 2023

Estanislao G. Tomarong, fondly called “Tani” was the youngest among the 6 children of Emilio Tomarong and Dominga Gutang. He was born on November 13, 1947, in Toledo City, Cebu Province, Philippines. He joined his Creator on September 18, 2023, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada at the age of 75.

Tani finished his elementary and secondary education in Toledo City and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cebu Institute of Technology in Cebu City. Upon graduation in 1971, he worked as an engineer at Marinduque-Surigao del Norte Nickel Mining Company. In 1976, he was assigned to its subsidiary as Engineering Supervisor at Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation in the island province of Palawan, Philippines, where he met his first wife Miriam “Mae” Martinez.

Tani and Mae were married in 1979 and were together for 33 years. With their son Stephen Brian, they moved to Rabigh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1980 where he worked for Saudi Consolidated Electric Company as Plant Supervisor for 10 years.

In 1990, the Tomarong family migrated to and settled in Windsor, Ontario, Canada where Tani worked at TRQSS until his retirement in 2011. He was a committed Christian and served as a member of the Board of Directors at Windsor Evangel Bible Church. He also served as a Board Member at the Filipino Community Centre.

After Mae passed in 2012, Tani married Rosalinda Dalusag in 2015 and became the stepfather to Michelle and Jennifer. Tani loved to travel with Rose & being on a cruise. He enjoyed contemporary music and Asian food.

Tani was preceded in death by his parents Emilio & Dominga; wife Miriam; older siblings Avelino, Martha, Remedios & Columba.

He was survived by his wife Rosalinda, sister Simona Cline, son Stephen Brian, step-daughters Michelle Lozano, (Joseph, Joshua) & Jennifer Milo (Kit), nephew Emmanuel Tomarong (Cecil, Alexa) and great nephew Jasper Tomarong (Katlyn, Baby Ja).

On Saturday, September 30, 2023, all are welcome at the Windsor Evangel Bible Church, 3149 Forest Glade Drive, Windsor, for Memorial Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until a Celebration of Estanislao’s Life begins at 11:00 a.m.
