Obituary for Filippo Gerardi
Passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Giovanna. Loving father of Josie LaColla, Anna (Chuck) Crosby, Lilly (Mike) Magri and late Joanne (John)(Crystal) Figar. Dear nonno of Zena (late Tony), Charlie, Phil, Yvonne (Chris), Joanne (JJ), Chuck (Bren), Sylvio (Marcela), late Phil, Nina (Rob), Anthony, Joanna (Daniel), Phil (Raegan). Biz-nonno of Salina (Brandon), Leo, Gia, Jaxon, Jason, Joshua, Sienna, Liv, Milania. Dear brother to late Nino (Pina), late Anna (late Laureato), Giovanna (Tony), Nuzza (late Tom), Nick (Pina), Armando (Antonia), Gaspare (Rose), Josie (late Onofrio), late brother-in-law Nino. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Filippo came to North America in 1951 looking for a better life for this family. He worked various jobs to bring his family from Italy to North America. He opened the Italia Restaurant which he made into his career. During his retirement he was thrilled to work in his garden. He enjoyed playing Bocce at the Caboto Club. Loved the game checkers (and never lost) and scopa.

Visiting at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841 on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 3-5 and 7-9 Pm. Parish prayers at 4:30 pm. Family and friends are requested to meet at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (4401 Mt. Royal Dr.) on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 10 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11 am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest.
