It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our family matriarch on March 2 at the age of 94. Florence was the daughter of the late Fred and Caroline (Boxwright) May.
Reunited with her beloved husband Gordon Gibson (1965), Florence is survived by her daughters Carol Smith of Langley, B.C. , Linda Stannard (Glenn), Barb Charko (Paul) and Gail Postlethwaite (Brian) all from the Windsor Essex area.
Florence was born in Nova Scotia and moved to New Brunswick at a young age. Florence and Gordon moved to Windsor, Ontario in 1948 to raise their family, following work opportunities, where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Florence is predeceased by her dear sisters Beatrice May and Emily Wilson and brothers John, Harry and Archie Smith. She will be sadly missed by extended relatives and her East Coast family. Cherished grandmother to Cheryl Marion (Ivan) (Whitecourt, Alta.) Chris Smith (Surrey, BC), Julie Brazier (Brad), Paul Root (Amy), Melissa Compton (Scott), , Mark Charko (Allison), Laura Moran (Mike) and Andrew Postlethwaite (fiancée Celina Dijkhuizen).
Beloved great grandmother to Ashley, Tyler, Dylan, Emily, Nathan, Sam, Ella, Ben, Jack, Nolan, Ethan, Matthew, George, Joe, Lilianne and Miles.
In earlier years, Florence loved frequent visits to Massachusetts and New Brunswick to reminisce with family and line dance in Sussex with her sisters. She was an avid gardener and loved to play euchre with her card club at Janisse Towers as well as bowl at the Pladium. She thoroughly enjoyed weekly appointments with Brett at Stage One Hair Salon.
Florence loved spending time with family and friends but even more so with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They truly had her heart. Love of family was her happiness.
Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Riverside Place for their remarkable care throughout her stay.
Florence will be forever missed and always loved by her family and all who knew her.

Internment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens will occur at a later date.
