Passed away peacefully on June 16, 2019 at the age of 79 years. Adored husband, travelling partner and best friend of Irene (nee McNulty) for 55years. Beloved father of Sharon Donoso and husband Eric, Steve McDowell and wife Sarah. Proud and loving grandfather of Max and Mia. Cherished uncle of Kerry and Shawn Lawler, Amie and Jeff Reid and Sandra Stark. Predeceased by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Ruthanne McNulty and also by his sister Nancy and husband John Stark. George came to Canada in 1964 and enjoyed working as a Structural Engineer. He opened his own business, G.W. McDowell Engineering, which was successful for over 30 years. One of his greatest passions was travelling with family to many different countries, Europe being one of his favourite destinations, as he always enjoyed the food, culture and, of course, the wine. His other great joy was his grandchildren Max and Mia—he was their #1 fan at all their hockey games and rarely missed any. He also never missed an opportunity to share his wisdom and guidance with the referees!!!
