OUELLETTE, Georgina Frances
(formerly FOJTIK, nee VITEK)
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother on April 29 th, 2020 at the age of 91 from complications due to Covid19. Born on March 27, 1929 in HarwichTownship (Blenheim, ON). Mom passed away with family close by sending her words of love and prayers and listening to Czech music.
She shared 16 years of marriage with her first husband, Joseph Fojtik (1966)
who was father to 5 of her children: Judy Saby (Keith), Richard Fojtik (2018),
Patti Rodgers (Steve Gignac), Betty Jean Bumbacco (Jamie) and Michael Fojtik
Georgina enjoyed a wonderful second marriage of 43 years to her late
husband Charles Ouellette (2012) father to her 6 th child Pamela Robson (Paul).
Dearest and cherished Grandmother to Ryan, Kendal, Dan (Sonja), Katie,
Bruno, Joseph, Spencer, William, Trenton, Harrison and Desiree.
Great-Grandmother to Mariah and Anna.
Loving and treasured sister to Mary Kurecka (Tony) and Lillian Bednarik (John).
Growing up they were very involved with the Czech community. At the end of
their conversations they always said their special Czech goodbye.
She will be missed by many special nieces and nephews who to them she was
the matriarch of our family.
Our mom was truly amazing, kind, gentle, beautiful and loved by many.
She was a stay at home mom who had lunch ready for us every day. Fridays
were always tomato soup and grilled cheese.
As we grew older, her days were spent sewing. She made money sewing home
fashions and incredibly intricate Barbie clothes.
She had an artistic flair with flowers and gardening. She went back to school
and got her floral licence in Waterloo. She taught floral design classes through
Windsor Recreation Activities for many years. Then, she parlayed this into
working for Helen’s Flowers which then became I & F Designs. She absolutely
loved her time there. Thanks to Jim for his many years of love, support and
kindness to our mother.
She picked up golfing later in life. She didn’t hit the ball far but it was always straight. Her favourite times were the family golf tournaments at Bass Lake in Michigan. She was involved in curling and went to many tournaments and bonspiels. Her curling friends were very special to her and continued to spend time with her long after their curling days were over.
Mom loved to entertain. The food, the flowers and her attention to detail made all her guests feel very special.
We are at peace knowing she’s reunited with many family members and special
life long friends.
She loved us all, and we will miss her gentle smile and continuous words of
support. There will forever be a tremendous void in our hearts.
We want to thank all the staff at Heron Terrace who provided compassionate
thoughtful care throughout mom’s residency and in her last moments. Thanks
for the 4 o'clock wine time!
In lieu of flowers please donate to your local food banks or Food banks Stronger Together who are in great need
because of the pandemic.
