Obituary for Gerard Francis Morand
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Gerry (“Bugsy”) Morand, on February 8, 2021.
Gerry died at home, with his loving wife Cindy (nee Artinger) and daughter Stefanie at his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis (1999) and Florence (2018) Morand, and was the eldest brother of J.B. (Kathy), Joe (2011; Nancy), Claudette (Chris), Phillip (1961) and Pete; the “favourite” son-in-law of Lou (2019) and Emilie Artinger; the brother-in-law of David (Helen) and Bruce (Linda) Artinger; and uncle to many nieces and nephews on both sides.
Gerry was an avid golfer and, in his younger years, a baseball and hockey player who played on many teams at various levels. Gerry was also a trusted insurance broker for over 45 years, and will be missed by his many clients and friends.
We extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and PSWs who assisted us in caring for Gerry during his final months, to Father Larry Brunet and to dear friends whose support has been immeasurable.
Gerry was a member of the board of directors of Académie Ste. Cécile International School (“ASCIS”) where a memorial fund has been established in his name. If you so desire, donations to ASCIS, to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or to another charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A private service will be held on Saturday, February 13th, and a memorial will be held at a later date when Covid restrictions are no longer in effect. Funeral arrangements entrusted to FAMILIES FIRST, 1065 Lauzon Rd.
