Obituary for Gerry McAuslan (nee Scratch)

Passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital on July 19, 2023 at the age of 87. Geraldine - or Gerry, as she was generally known - is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ken, daughters, Pam (Jeff Bradie) and Brenda (Pete Lennon), and grandchildren, Lauren, Kelsey, and Ian. Predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Minnie and brothers Ray and Hugh.

Gerry was born in Ruthven, went to high school in Leamington and moved to Windsor shortly after marrying Ken in 1960. She and Ken lived in South Windsor at the same house on Everts for 54 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years, but also enjoyed selling (and using) Beauty Counselor and Alloette skin care and cosmetics. She was a longtime member of the church choir and a volunteer for many years with the Women’s Auxiliary at IODE Hospital. But most of all, Gerry was devoted to being a mother, grandmother, and to maintaining contact with many friends and relatives.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus and to the caring staff at the Leamington Mennonite Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Gerry’s honour to the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County would be sincerely welcomed.

As per Gerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private service for family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
