Obituary for Giovanni Vincelli

Giovanni passed away peacefully, on August 14, 2020 at 96 years of age with his loving family by his side. Reunited with his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Elisa (August 15, 2010). Born in Casacalenda, Italy. Cherished father of Carmelina "Carmie" Connor and husband David, Nicolina, and Giuseppe "Joe". The greatest Nonno to Julia (Stephan Prevost) and Stephanie Connor. Proud Bisnonno of Maxim Prevost. Predeceased by his parents Nicola and Carmela Vincelli. Loving brother of Rosina Corsi and her late husband Pasquale of B.C., and the late Giuseppe Vincelli and his wife Carmelina of Windsor. Brother-in-law of the late Giovanni Caruso and his late wife Carmelina, Giacinto and Maria Caruso, Raffaelo and Giuseppina Caruso, and the late Pasquale Caruso all of Windsor, and Maria and the late Pasquale Marcogliese, and Lidia and Giovanni Felicita, all of Italy. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, United States and Belgium.

Giovanni was a WWII veteran, and fought with the Italian army. He was a prisoner of war for two years. Giovanni and his wife immigrated to Canada in 1952 for a chance at a better life for their family. He worked for the Windsor Board of Education and retired in 1988 after a lengthy career. He was a proud member of the Giovanni Caboto Club for many, many years. He loved to garden, making wine and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs. We are fortunate that our parents have taught us to be proud of both our Canadian and Italian cultures. Special thank you to the frontline workers for their dedicated care and kindness.

If you so desire, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor or Transition to Betterness would be appreciated by the family.
