Obituary for Helen Ioannidis (Kourelias)
On Saturday March 11, 2023 at 60 years of age Helen has joined her daughter Amanda in the heavens above, surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife and soul mate of Archie Ioannidis for 38 years. Loving mother of Evelyn and Chris, the late Amanda (2022), Stephanie and Joe, and Joanna and Robert. Cherished Yiayia of Camden, Keira and Emily, and Adam. Helen was the loving daughter of Spiro and Ourania Kourelias. Sister of Sophia and Jimmy. Daughter in law of John and Eugenia Ioannidis. Sister in law of George, Dorothy and Peter. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Helen will be remembered as the strongest person we know. She went through pain and suffering that no one should endure. She was unselfish, dignified, most caring about others and was humbly graceful. She was the light in the room with an infectious smile. On the family’s side she was a quiet matriarch, the pillar for her four daughters and the balance to her husband. She taught her girls to be fiercely independent, teaching them to have compassion and to put other’s above themselves. An unwavering commitment to her husband, a partnership rarely seen today. We will now all be blessed with the combination of Helen and Amanda watching over our families. She will never be forgotten.
Visitation Thursday 3-5pm and 7-9 p.m. Thrice Holy Hymn Service Thursday evening at 8pm and Friday at Families First Funeral Home & Tribute Centre (519-969-5841) 3260 Dougall Ave. Procession leaving at 10:00 am to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, Walker Rd for a Funeral Service at 10:30am. Interment Windsor Memorial Gardens.
