Obituary for Jack Richard "Rick" Lumb

At home, in the loving care of his family on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 81 years of age.

Treasured husband of Ruthann (nee Renaud) for 55 years. He will be deeply missed by his sons David (Tammy) and Kevin (Mary). He was a loving & proud grandfather to Josh (Rae) and to his step-great-granddaughter Emily. Also remembered by step-grandchildren Jamie and Jacob. Predeceased by his parents Jack & Dorothy (Goodwin) Lumb. Dear brother of Sylvia Schippers (late John). Brother-in-law of Donna Renaud, Theresa (Bernard) Rivard, Christine Moretto, Joe (Lisa) Renaud and the late Mary Ellen Renaud. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He liked to share stories of his life’s experiences as a Game Warden in Northern Ontario, his time in the Militia, becoming a private pilot and being a life-long hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion-Branch 594. He worked at Dominion Forge in the IT Department and later on at St. Clair College, as a professor in IT. He and Ruth travelled extensively in the Caribbean and Europe which added to his treasure trove of stories. We hope that they have darts in heaven for him. He could always be counted on to have an animal or two in his care—especially Hobbes, his constant companion.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, especially Carole Branco, and the members of Hospice Residential, who were our constant support over the last four years.

Donations to the Salvation Army or Hospice Residential would be appreciated by the family.
