Obituary for Jacqueline C. Papineau (née Marier)

December 6, 1919 - October 14, 2023

Passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023, at the age of 103. Reunited with her beloved husband, Leo Papineau (2007) after 63 years of marriage. Dearest mother of four children: Roger (Kathy Brown), Guy (Annette Demers), Colette (Denis Leduc), Neil (Sandra McCoy). Proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Denise Papineau, Michel (Lisa Bolger), Tracy (Richard Eyles), Darcy (Joanna Miceli), Dean (Ranata Ialeggio), Daniel Leduc (2002), Andrée Leduc (Tim Vander Meer), Gabrielle (Andrew Sliasas) and Shawn Papineau. Dear great-grandmother of twelve great-grandchildren: Chelsea, Zachary, Myrissa, Grifynn, Autumn, Ethan, Carter, Owen, Madison, Nathan, Aiden, Conor and one great-great-grandson, Kayden. Jacqueline is predeceased by her parents Antonio and Rosa Marier, and by her siblings Jean-Paul, Madeleine “Marge”, Marcel, Maurice, Jeannine, Jeannette. She is survived by her youngest brother Jerome “Jerry” “Toots”, and one sister-in-law Madeleine Marier (Damien).

A special thank you to Chartwell Oak Park, LaSalle retirement home staff for the excellent care they provided Jackie from 2015-2023. Also, thanks to the Brouillette Manor Nursing Home for the special nursing care they provided Jackie for the past four months.

Jackie retired from the Windsor Board of Education in 1980, after 30 years of teaching, the last 20 years as Principal. After retirement, she spent the next 25 years teaching bridge to seniors and organizing bus trips across Canada and the U.S.A. for her senior bridge clubs. She spent her last 18 years playing cards with senior groups, playing bingo and going to the casino. Her favourite pastimes were Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and reading.

If you so desire, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Visitation Friday, October 20, 2023 from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Families First, South Windsor, 3260 Dougall Ave. (519-969-5841). On Saturday, October 21, 2023, friends are invited to join the family after 9:00 a.m. for visitation at Corpus Christi Church, 1400 Cabana Road West until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
