It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne Marie Blain (nee Trottier) October 30, 2022 at Southwood Lakes Extendicare Long Term Care facility in Windsor, Ontario at the age of 93.

Finally reunited with her beloved husband, Frank (1995), her daughter, Marie (1958). She is survived by her children, Cecile (Frank Sheff), Peter (Beverly), Norman, and Matthew, her grandchildren Camille (Sabrina), Alicia, Isaac, and Mitchell (Jennifer), and her great grandchildren Teegan, Jayden, Tahlia, Phoenix-Jewel, Ashton, and Eliette, her sister-in-law, Ruth and brother-in-law Jean-Paul (Betty). Loving daughter of Pierre Trottier (1975) and Régine (nee Charron) (1960); youngest sister of Paul (2009) (Georgina (1998)), Claire (1999) (Fred (1980)), Imelda (1980) (Alfred “Al” (1976)), John (2005) (Grace (2006)), Marc (1977) (Eve (2007)), Marie (2003) (Robert (1991)), and Loys (2004) (Ruth). She was also predeceased by her grandchildren, Jaimie (2002) and Jimmy (2016), and her great grandchildren Storm (2002), Seth (2002) and Saffron (2002). She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was the youngest child of the late Pierre and Régine (nee Charron) Trottier. Born in Windsor, she grew up with her 7 siblings. Never a strong student, Jeanne quit high school at 18 to take a job at Hiram Walkers where she worked for 10 years, mastering almost every process in the bottling room.

Through her involvement with the Regis Club at Immaculate Conception Church, she met her future husband, Frank Blain. She walked into the room where he was playing piano one night and knew that he would be her husband. Frank took a job in Wichita, Kansas shortly after they met, but when he returned, they started dating and in August of 1957, they were married at the same church where they met.

They were blessed with 5 wonderful children: Marie (1958), Cecile (Frank), Peter (Beverly), Norman, and Matthew. When Frank found himself with a new baby daughter and no job, he took a job in Ottawa and the family relocated.

Five years later, with the addition of Peter and Norman to the family, Frank and Jeanne decided to move back to Windsor to aid her aging father, who had not been faring very well since the death of his wife a year or so before. So Jeanne moved her family back into her childhood home and for a decade, there were three generations living in the house. Matthew was the last addition to the family and he had a special affinity with his Pepe.

Jeanne and Frank enjoyed renovating the little house they shared with her father and it was definitely not the same house once they were done! One of the biggest jobs they tackled was the installation of a full basement under the house that had, up until then, only had a dirt basement. Jeanne would often say that you hadn’t lived until you’ve had a bulldozer under your house!

When she wasn’t spending time with her growing family, Bingo was Jeanne’s favourite pastime. Although she loved to play, she loved to win more!

Special thanks to the staff at Southwood Lakes Extendicare Long Term Care and previously to Banwell Gardens Long Term Care Facilities for their dedicated care and compassion.
