Obituary for Joan "Joanie" McLinden (nee Menard)
August 28, 1949 – July 31, 2022
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Louise McLinden, with her loving family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Barry (1989), whom she loved for the last 50 years. Adored and cherished mom and best friend to Scott, Shannon Heydon and husband Jim. Beloved and treasured Gram to Jake Heydon, who is her entire world, she was and always will be his #1 fan. Pre-deceased by her parents Agel (1969) and Mary (2001) Menard. Loving sister to the late Ronald (late Donna), late Syd, Carol Dawson (late Dawn), Charlotte Hawkins (late Tom), Mary-Anne Belisle (Ray) and the late Brenda Lee. Daughter-in-law to the late William and Grace McLinden. Sister-in-law to the late Brian, Bill (Wanda), late Robin (Darlene), Wendy Scobie (late Gary), Carrie Langill (Gary) and Joanne Thorup (Jim). Loved by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and by those who called her GiGi. She will be dearly missed by her feather grand-baby Skittles and fur grand-baby Ella. Godmother to Mark Menard, Ronnie Menard, Kyle Hawkins and Rae-Anne Ingratta.
Joan retired from John McGivney Children’s Centre in 2015 after 17 years of dedicated service. She loved scrapbooking, bingo, slots, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the ICU and 5th floor staff at WRH Ouellette Campus and HDGH Palliative Care. If you so desire, donations to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
