Age 83, of Windsor passed away on January 20, 2021. He was born on June 23, 1937 in Ottawa, Ontario.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine Curran; six children, Brad Curran (Theresa) of Windsor, Jane Maciel (Joe) of Brampton, Paul Curran (Debi) of Windsor, Mary Ann Curran of Toronto, Peter Curran (Melissa) of Chatham and Jeff Curran (Nadia) of Scarborough; 12 grandchildren, Devon, Hannah, Ryan (Kelly), Daniel (Jessica), Ashley (Brendan), Shelby, Aidan, Colin, Kate, Chloe, Jacey and Tanner; and five great-grandchildren, Sophia, River, Forest, Nova and Reagan.

He is the son of the late Peter and Rhona Curran and brother of Catherine Morin, Ottawa, Ontario and the late Peter Curran and Jim Curran.

In addition to his career as an executive civil servant, John was a talented singer, writer and communicator. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, caring father and grandfather and loyal friend. He was a gentle, intelligent, fun-loving, soft-spoken man with a quick wit and pleasant demeanour who loved going to the movies and travelling with his soulmate, Catherine. Those who knew John will attest that his passions were family, friends and faith. He will be profoundly missed by many and although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.

A special ‘thank you’ to the staff of Extendicare Southwood Lakes for the care and comfort they provided over the past two years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Saint Vincent de Paul.
