After a hard fought and courageous battle, John passed away with his family by his side on June 8, 2022 at the age of 83. John was born in Paleo Panagia, Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1964. It was in Canada that he raised his family with his beloved wife of 52 years, Rosalia (nee Haloulakos).
John was a devoted father to his three children and an adoring papou to his three grandchildren. He was a dear brother to his sister Maria and was predeceased by his siblings Taki, Stefanos, Paraskevas, George and Christos. John is also survived by his sisters-in-law Toula and Lili. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
John's entrepreneurial and charismatic spirit were often on display during his tenure as owner of the Embers restaurant for over twenty years. He always enjoyed a friendly game of gin rummy or an afternoon of taking in the horse races, but his greatest retirement pleasures were laughing with friends and family over a cup of coffee and tending to his garden. John's endless energy and fortitude were awe-inspiring to many. If he wasn't repairing and maintaining properties, he was working outside or walking the hallways well into his later years. John delighted in meeting new people and catching up with old acquaintances. His welcoming smile will be forever etched in our memories.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Village of St. Clair Amherstburg Unit for their compassionate care and understanding.
