Obituary for John Francis

Born and raised in Glenmavis, Scotland, it was there that John formed his strong work ethic and dark sense of humour. The youngest of 4 children (Alex, Margaret, and May), the house was always full. He loved fishing at Loc Chon and spending weekends in Dunoon. This is also where he met the love of his life; Isabel Francis. Now married, with the goal of California, John and Isabel (and cat) left Scotland and started their next grand adventure. Canada became their new home and they set roots in the Windsor area where the Francis family began to grow. Blessed with two boys, Kevin and Ian Francis, their adventurous lifestyle continued. Whether it be trailer in tow, camping in Algonquin, or condo in Florida, the family was always happy together. Later, John was blessed with more family in the form of daughters: Christina Francis and Jody Francis (wives of Ian and Kevin). Next, the family grew with grandkids: Ella, Gavin, Emilia, and Ava. The house was full again.
John loved many things in life: fishing, fixing motorcycles, his guitar, a good laugh, his many cats over the years, the trailer at Grand Bend, and a good cup of tea. His professionalism led to a successful career of over 25 years at Kendan Manufacturing. Most of all, John and Isabel loved travelling the world with their friends Peggy and Bert.

On March 8th, 2023, John passed at the age of 83 peacefully, ready to reunite with his wife and siblings. The family would like to thank the team at Iler Lodge in Essex, for their excellent care and compassion during his last few months.

Memorial tributes to St. Andrews Anglican Church would be appreciated. Cremation will take place on Monday, March 13.
