Obituary for John Paul Sidelnyk
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that the family of John Paul Sidelnyk announce his peaceful passing at home with family at his bedside after an ongoing battle with kidney disease at the age of 63.
John was born in Windsor, ON and was a retired member from General Motors after 30 years of service. Some of his happiest times were spent coaching his daughter’s softball team, bowling, golfing, trips to watch the Toronto Blue Jays and spending time with his family. He especially treasured the time he spent with his grandson Graham.
John was the beloved husband of Lynn Sidelnyk (Carroll). Loving father to Jason (Juwon) Howard, Venessa Sidelnyk (Sarah) Henderson and was predeceased by his daughter Crystal Sidelnyk-Giegerich. Cherished Grandpa to Avery, Everett, Elise and Graham.
Loving brother to Marie (Gaetan) Proulx, Barbara (Alfred) Nogueira and Sonia (Joe) Puccio. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents John Sidelnyk, Theresa Jubinville, sisters Ann Karn, Kathy Gascoyne and Christine Sidelnyk-Gomes.
Everyone who knew him knows he was an animal lover and never hesitated to help an animal in need. He will be greatly missed by his pets as well. The family would like to express their immense gratitude to his PSW’s and nurses who have taken care of him over the past few years. Special thanks to Linda, Cathy and Sherrie.
We will miss him with all of our hearts and although our hearts are completely broken we know he is no longer suffering and we take solace in all of the memories we made and take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his beloved family members.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of John’s life will take place at a later date.
In kindness, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Windsor Essex County Humane Society.
