Obituary for John Stewart McKay

87 years, peacefully at Southwood Lakes Extendicare, on February 20, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones. Embraced in heaven by cherished mother and father Adeline and William, sisters MaryLin and Carol and dear friend Ellen Jones. Fondly remembered as a favourite uncle of Tracey Driver, Scott Ingram, Lee Spice, Bill LeBarge, Lori Duncan and many great-nieces and nephews.

As a young boy, Stewart developed a passion for overseas pen pals, which resulted in many “international journeys”. Consequently, he acquired an impressive 50-year volume of rare global stamps, a scholarly knowledge of aviation and many lifelong enduring friendships. Stewart was a dedicated long-time member of Roseland Trinity United Church and enjoyed the fellowship of that community. Stewart lived in East Windsor for his entire life, where he was involved in the local community and where he met many great friends, including his dear neighbour Tony Pearson. Later, he moved to Kensington Court where he flourished in this retirement community and continued to develop many friendships. There, he formed a very special bond with dear friend Samantha Holland. Stewart will be greatly missed by all those who had the honour of knowing him.

If you so desire, donations to Roseland Trinity United Church or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
