Obituary for Joost Gragtmans
Surrounded by family at 67 years of age on March 4, 2021.
Beloved and devoted husband and partner of 42 years to Judy (nee Leakey). Cherished father of Cara Walsh (Mathew), Elissa Jancevski (Danny), Daniel Gragtmans (Meghan). Loving Papa of Sienna, Beckett, Jackson, Emma, Charlotte and Griffin. Son of Maria Vanderspek and the late Jacques Gragtmans. Son-in-law of Marion and the late Ross Leakey. Loved brother of Bart (Lynne) Gragtmans, Michael Gragtmans (Anne), Jerry Gragtmans (Barb Dixon), the late Derek Gragtmans and his wife Susan Andrews (Martin), Naomi Pinnell (Ian), Ron Leakey (Margaret), Garry Leakey (Carol), Brad Oke (Jan), Wayne Oke (Deb), Randy Oke (Gail), Kevin Oke (Joanne), Dr. Rachael Smith (Dave Turk), Michael Smith (Lizzie DeAngelis), Andrew Smith and David Smith. Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews and family.
Joost was born in The Netherlands and moved to Canada at the age of 15.
He was a true entrepreneur whose career path featured many stops including Toronto Dominion Bank, owner of the Fisherman’s Wharf Marina in Stoney Point, home builder and proud Tim Hortons Owner. He was happiest at the helm of a sailboat, behind the wheel of a car (preferably a very fast one), spending time with family, particularly playing with his six grandchildren.

Visitation Monday, March 8, 2021, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Joost’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Personal face coverings and reservations are required. You can reserve your time for visitation or seat for the service at FamiliesFirst.ca (RSVP) or by calling directly. Cremation to follow.
