Obituary for Joseph Pastovich

Died May 25, 2020 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Margo (nee Farnham). Loving father of Dina and Marnie (Brent). Proud grandfather of Mark. Preceded in death by his parents John and Ana Pastovich and in-laws Orlo and Jean Farnham, Garth Farnham, Alan Farnham, and Lynn Stafford.

Joe was a high school teacher in Essex, Waterloo, and Windsor where he taught accounting, keyboarding, and art. He loved teaching and working with his students.

As an only child, Joe created an extended family for himself by developing close friendships throughout his life. His friends came from various areas such as his church, workplace, and neighbourhood. They included the Walkerville "boys", the breakfast club, and the Friday night poker group. Although he loved hunting for treasures at auctions and yard sales, the things he truly valued were his family, friends, and faith.

A hobby cartoonist and painter, he often gave away his drawings. As a lifelong learner, he loved to know everyone’s story. Joe was a positive, energetic person, who loved life. His death leaves a huge void. Memories of his humour and fun nature will remain a joy.

Thank you to all who wrote, phoned, or visited Joe during his long illness; those communications really raised his spirits. Thank you to Dr. Hamm and the incredible nursing staff at the Cancer Centre for their compassion and care.
