Obituary for Josephus "Joe" Vanderhorst

June 22, 1935 – March 5, 2024

As a family, we are devastated to announce the passing of our patriarch, Josephus “Joe” Vanderhorst at the age of 88. Joe’s bride of 64 years, Gerdina “Diane”, passed away just 3 months ago and Joe decided he didn’t want to go on without her. The good Lord obliged. An empty spot has been left in the hearts of his favourite son, Jeff, and his favourite daughter, Michelle (Marty) O’Gorman. But the biggest heartache is the 5 grandchildren he leaves behind; Kevin Vanderhorst, Courtney Bondy, Ashley Bondy (Patrick), Brycen Bondy (Danielle), and Christian Vanderhorst. They loved their Opa fiercely to the end, keeping vigil around him and telling all their hilarious stories about their Oma and Opa. Joe was a plumber and happily retired from GM Trim Plant. He enjoyed his time camping, cooking, fishing, woodworking, doing word search puzzles, and driving his ‘Miss Daisy’ around. The fact that these two wonderful people are reunited brings us solace. The memories, laughs, and antics they have left behind will carry us through until we meet again.
Elvis move over, Joe is back!
