Lawrence Langlois

Born April 23, 1934 passed away peacefully at 84 years of age on October 30, 2018. He is back with his beloved wife of 56 years, Jackie (2009) who he missed so dearly. Loving father of Michael (Sue) and cherished grandfather of Adam. Dear brother of Donald (2013) and sister in law Betty. Larry retired as an Inspector with the Windsor Police Service after 30 years of service. He was exceptionally proud of his commitment and passion to the Windsor Police Association in his quest to better the quality of lives of police officers, not just locally, but provincially. He was forever proud of his achievements as President in negotiating wage increases, pension and benefit packages that were long overdue in the 1970’s. Precedents he achieved in collective bargaining continue to resonate even today in policing across Ontario. He is a past President of the Ontario Police Association and was appointed to the Ontario Police Arbitration Commission. He was the recipient of the Silver and Gold Queen’s Jubilee medals in recognition of his contributions to policing. He was on the Board of Directors of Hiatus House for over 20 years where he championed on behalf of abused women and was instrumental in the implementation of the Fresh Start Program for Men. In his post retirement he taught Law and Security/Police Foundations at St Clair College, instructing and mentoring future police officers. A special acknowledgment to the staff at Chartwell Oak Park LaSalle whose love and kindness never went unnoticed by him, especially by his “adopted” daughters (Angie, Lia and Bea). Larry loved the “Jack/Lar Wine Club” that he started at Chartwell with his good buddy Jack. If you so desire donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Windsor would be appreciated. Visiting Friday 3-5pm, 7-9pm funeral Saturday 12:30pm from Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841 to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for Mass at 1pm. Cremation to follow.
