Lillyan immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her brother Richard from Germany, to live with her mother Olga Cantacuzene, in Windsor, Ontario. There she met her best friend and love of her life, Leo, in 1953.
Lillyan’s main priority in life was always her family, loving and taking care of everyone. She made all holidays special, cooking amazing meals for all to enjoy. She loved being a very special part of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives, teaching important life skills and many words of wisdom. Everyone that knew her knew she was such a smart, strong woman and an amazing role model. Her generosity was felt by everyone in her life. She treasured her friendships over the years.
Lillyan was very involved in her community, devoting her time to the Windsor Symphony, and one time becoming President herself. She organized the Windsor Symphony’s first purchase of a grand piano for their performances. Leo and Lillyan were world travellers, often bringing all their family with them and in later years spent 6 months each year in their home on the ocean in Florida, where their family would enjoy visiting. Lillyan’s favorite pastime was playing bridge with all her friends over the years and even achieved Bronze Life Master. Lillyan also enjoyed walking the forests of Germany, Canada and USA picking wild mushrooms, a skill learned from her father, Alfons Krenz of Germany. Lillyan had great expertise in choosing and preparing wild mushroom dishes for her family to enjoy.
We would like to thank everyone involved in Lilly’s care from Hospice, Bayshore and The Royle Treatment. With all your help and support we were able to fulfill her wish of spending her last days in her home with loved ones by her side.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
