Obituary for Linton "Red" Henry Grant Herron

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linton known as “Red” Herron, on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 89 years of age. Beloved husband and best friend of Marion for 65 years. Supportive father to daughter, Kym, and her husband, Wayne who reside in Florida. Linton was predeceased by his parents, Alice (1974) and Harry (1995).

Linton was born in Peterborough on February 19, 1933, raised in Courtice where he attended public school, and received his high school education in Bowmanville. He is survived by his brother, Grant, sister-in-law, Helen, nephews Peter and Paul, niece Lynda and was great uncle to nine.

After graduation he worked in the G.M. Parts and Purchasing Departments, Oshawa. He was transferred to the Trim Plant, Windsor in 1965 and retired after 35 years at G.M. Before retiring he obtained his real estate license but he really enjoyed the automotive industry and sold cars at two G.M. dealerships for 11 years. After retiring from the sales field, he spent time as one of the founders of The Bibles For Missions Thrift Store, where he served on the board and volunteered for 10 years. Linton was the chairman of the Heritage Park Alliance Church building committee for the new church in 1985 and held the same position 15 years later for the expansion. He was very active in his church and held many responsible positions. Linton made friends easily, always had a humorous story to tell and will be missed by many.

If you so desire, donations may be made to Heritage Park Alliance Church or the Parkinson’s Society of South Western Ontario.
