Loretta D'Agnillo

With her loving family by her side, Loretta D’Agnillo passed away peacefully on July 31, 2020 at the age of 74 years after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on June 4, 1946 in Adria, Italy, she came to Canada at the young age of 5 with her parents, the late Ennio Ruzza and surviving mother Isabella. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Ermete D’Agnillo with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage. Cherished Mother of Daniela D’Agnillo, John D’Agnillo (Natalie) and Tania D’Angela (Joe). Adored Nonna to Olivia, Marco, Johnny, Julia and Matthew. Dear Sister of Annalisa Rossi (late Valentino), Leda Kobrosly and husband Adnan and Gina Meo and husband Raffaele. She will be lovingly remembered by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Loretta was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nonna to her 5 wonderful grandchildren. Loretta’s kitchen was the hub of her home, a place where the family spent a great deal of time together, cooking together, eating together and connecting together. Her beautiful smile, compassion and generosity will be greatly missed by all. She touched the lives of many young students in her 33+ years of teaching with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board. She also shared her love with the Church and a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, Mary. She was a woman of strong faith and graciously devoted much of her retirement years serving the church as a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Carmelites and also initiated the Rosary Apostolate in Windsor schools as well as numerous prayer groups. The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice Residential Home in Windsor for their care and support as well as the other health practitioners that assisted Loretta.

If you so desire, donations to the Hospice Residential Home or Our Lady of Guadalupe Home of Windsor would be appreciated by the family.

My dearest friend,
The loss of your friendship and sisterly connection we had is very difficult to put into words.
My head knows you have flown into heaven, but there is a great disconnection between what I know in my head and what I feel in my heart.
I feel you all around me as if you are still here....but i must not hold you bound to this world but release you into the arms and Glory of Our Lord.

The reality in my head is that where ever you are, in your glorious body immerse in the immense Light of Sanctity, no more feels pain nor have to deal with a physical broken body that no longer would sustain you. That's the reality.
Fr. Christian, who has known you for just over a year, delivered an homily that was spot on, on the essence of who you were...and still are. His last words were "now go and live her legacy of faith"

I thank forever God for granting me the gift and blessing to have known you and the privilege to call you my FRIEND.

I made you a promise and i will honour that promise with every ounce of my being.
Pray for us, who, for the time being, are stuck down here in this valley of tears, that one day, us too, will share in the Glory and Light of your resurrected body.

Ermete, Daniela, John, Tania, Natalie, Joe, grandchildren sisters and Mom, know that, though you cannot see her, she is closer to you now than she ever was before. If you sit quietly, and see with the eyes of faith and listen with the ears of your heart, there she is and will live there forever.

Hugs.
This picture is a fun memory of her presence at my birthday bash my children organized in 2017

I remember when I was younger and never really practiced the faith Loretta always coming into my classes, I never knew who this lady was but her devotion to our Blessed Mother was so moving it placed a seed for the devotion I have today to our Blessed Mother. I will never forget her explaining the stories of Our Lady of Lourdes or Our Lady of Guadalupe and giving each child a picture of these events which I still have and cherish today. Later on in my life after I had my reversion to the faith, I finally got to know one of the people who helped grow my devotion to Mother Mary. Each and every Daily Mass, and Adoration I saw her as she always greeted me with a warm smile like i was her very own child. I thank God for the beautiful gift of Loretta in my life and offer my condolences to all the family members of Loretta. May the good Lord bring you strength in this time of difficulty 💕.

Loretta was the most sincere and kind woman whom I met at St. Gabriel School after she retired. She was dedicated to saying the rosary with the students and would visit us on a regular basis. Her devout faith was evident. It was a joy to meet up with her. Heaven gained a faith filled follower this week. May God bless her family and surround them with peace and love.
