I am sad to announce that Madge Upcott passed away in her sleep at Huron Lodge April 24. She was one month shy of her 98th birthday. Madge was predeceased by her parents, William and Elsie and siblings Desmond and Joyce, dear daughter-in-law Connie (2019) and beloved husband Bob (2001). She was the loving mother of David and granddaughter Stephanie and great grandson Kameron. Madge will be sorely missed by nephew Robert, nieces Diane and Shelly and many grand nieces and nephews.
Madge was proud of the fact that the seeds of St. Leonard’s Halfway House were planted on her kitchen table. She worked there for 25 years and became like a second mom to many of the guests.
Madge’s long life was centered around All Saints Anglican Church and her large group of dear friends. She was the straw that stirred the drink.
But the love of her life was Bob. They simply adored each other. Bob and Madge enjoyed travel. Whether it was their annual Muskoka stay or holidays in Europe, Florida or the Caribbean they would find some place where they could dance- hopefully to Big Band music.
Madge left a legacy of love and caring to everyone she knew.
Thanks to the wonderful staff at Huron Lodge. Their kindness and care throughout the years had been a comfort to Madge and her family.
As per her wishes, cremation has occurred. Arrangements entrusted to Families First, 585 Sandwich St. South, Amherstburg 519-969-5841. Condolences can be shared at www.familiesfirst.ca.
